Our Community

On June 13, 2021, the community of Alkmaar existed for 125 years.

On New Year's Eve 1895, Cornelis Kuit and Johanna Breet were invited for a dinner at the elder K. de Boer's home in Den Helder. After dinner more chairs were placed in the room, because the elder de Boer would hold a service that same evening. The elder De Boer was a ship's carpenter at the Rijks Marinewerf and had lived in Den Helder for more than 20 years. Before that he lived in Enkhuizen, where he came into contact with the Restored Apostolic Church. On his departure from Enkhuizen, this brother received the assignment from Apostle Schwarz to establish an Apostolic congregation in Den Helder. At first Cornelis and Johanna did not feel like attending the New Year's Eve service, yes, even refused and resisted, but still ..... In that service a “language” was spoken that the young Kuit family had never heard before. The concept of God was indeed still dualistic, but for Cornelis in particular so simply and clearly told, yes, there was even cautious mention of “God in Man”. He was so captivated that he kept asking questions after the service. He couldn't let go of what he had experienced in that service! The Kuit family returned home one of the following days and were shown off at the station by the elder De Boer, among others. On the platform the eldest de Boer slapped Cornelis his shoulder and said: “Well Kuit, bring it to Alkmaar. Man, it's time it got there too ”. And that's how it started for Alkmaar. On June 13, 2021 we celebrated the 125th anniversary of the Alkmaar community.
